Most scrap is stored outdoors before it is recycled into car parts and other products through melting and casting.
When rain falls on it during storage, dirt flows into side ditches with rainwater. Therefore, Shirakawa Plant has installed pits to separate sludge and oil from water in four locations along the rainwater drain channels. Rainwater passes through wastewater treatment equipment in the pits so that only clean water flows into the river.

We also control the wastewater at plants other than Shirakawa Plant with drainage equipment, conduct regular cleaning, and analyze the effluent to strengthen our monitoring.
